Twenties

Today is the last day of my twenties, so lets look at some highlights of the last ten years, in no particular order. Turning 21 doesn't make the list, because all that changed was that I was broke all the time. Graduating from college (on time, I might add), going to Australia, the birth of nine nieces and nephews,  getting my Master's Degree, getting my first real job, getting married, three (mostly) new kids, one very new kid, lots of football games with my friends and especially my dad. Then there are the every year events like the Lake, La Push and now, Family Camp. All said and done, it has been a pretty great ten years. I look forward to what the next ten bring, but I think these will be hard to top.

Huskies

For all of you that are about to lose hope...

Of the UW's five losses:

3 are to teams in the top 5 of the BCS standings. (Ohio State #1, Arizona State #4 and Oregon #5)

One is to the 12th ranked BCS team

And the last on is to the Pac-10 Co-leader.

All is not lost.

Dads n Daughters

M and I went to the UW today to take part in the dads and daughters promotion they have going on. We were given a talk by the head men's soccer coach, as well as a women's assistant. We also got wicked awesome t-shirts. We were supposed to watch the girls soccer game, but it was pouring out so the big E got us tickets to the volleyball match vs. #4 USC. We got to sit in the ADs box for the match, which the Huskies swept 3 games to nil. We had a great time. The volleyball team signed autographs after the game and M got them all.

Tomorrow is Brat day at Husky Stadium, so stop on by!

Bulldog Award

J won the one and only Bulldog award of the football season so far last week. The award is given at the coach's discretion when he sees a player working hard in practice as well as producing during a game. Congratulations J! Great work!

The Dog House

We have another blogger in the house! Check out the Dog House if you get the chance.

Lily

Just thought I would put an update up for all of you that saw the post that our poor little Jack Russel mix broke both of her legs at the beginning of the summer. She is now fully healed. She has a bit of a bow in each leg, and she goes down steps a little gingerly, but she is mostly back to normal. In fact, today I had to get out and put up the radio fence, because she dug out last week. She runs and jumps and acts like as much of an idiot as ever.

What a depressing game.

I am a big fan of Tyrone Willingham, but I have major questions about or 3rd quarters and second halves.  How can we be two different teams every week? It started at Boise State and just seems to get worse every game. What is going on in the locker room that we are winning the first half and getting destroyed the second half?
In other news, both kids won their games on Saturday.

Casmer Wilhelm Heilman

My good friend Casmer is getting married in the OKC today! Congratulations Cas! Wish I was there.

Our carzy life...

...is finally beginning to calm down. After the big news about my new job and the even bigger news about the new baby, things are beginning to settle down. We are supposed to have a rain free Saturday, with out clouds even, for the first time in what seems like months. I might actually be able to go out and mow the lawn for the last time this year. J and M's games are both at the same time, so we will only get to see one, but we will deal. The Husky game is on TV (FSN @ 7:15) and I think we will win. I predict a Syracuse-esque thumping with Jake Locker and, dare I say it, J.R. Hasty leading the way. I also look for a big game from Grayson Gunheim, Roy Lewis and Anthony Russo.
Little Baby R is still a kick in the pants and desperately wants to talk; he uses signs continuously, and gets frustrated when he doesn't have one for the word he is trying to say. On two different occasions on Thursday he "told" us he wanted his diaper changed. Not by crying, but by pointing to his crotch repeatedly and giving us his yes noise when we finally guessed what he wanted. (On a side note, that technique has never gotten me what I wanted.)
J had a football game on Thursday and really shone. In ten plays on D he had 3 solo tackles and two assists. He is not as big as most of the other guys, so he has to make sure that he tackles with correct form. When his growth spurt hits (his feet are nearly as big as mine), he won't have all the bad habits the big kids have.
M is done with school basketball. Although the team struggled, she had a great season playing point guard and finished in the top two on the team in scoring. The team was able to pull out a victory in their last game so the season ended on a high note. Now she can focus solely on soccer, where her coach has all the girls playing at a high level.

Aunt Katie Rocks!

As far as I know, my Aunt Katie was the first to see the blog and get the news. For those of you who couldn't figure out my cryptic subject line, #4 will be a boy and his scheduled arrival time is March 2nd (which would be kinda cool because we would have four kids but only two birth months). We are going to name him Eustace Peabody McKeehan (Rubber Chicken for short). I lobbied hard to throw a Magilacudy in there, but got vetoed. We are glad that we don't have to add a room on the house like we would if he was a girl. We are already getting excited to meet him.

New job.

Yesterday I was offered the head boys swimming position at Auburn Riverside High School, where I teach.  I am very excited for the opportunity to put my mark on the program. I was up against one of my good friends, so that makes the experience a little stressful and bittersweet, but I think we will have fun and success this year. Go Ravens!

Lazy Rainy Day

No Husky game this weekend, so I was able to get lots done. M's soccer team had a great game the girls are really starting to come together as a team. They were able to get a 4-2 result. J's team was finally able to punch through in the W column after a couple of frustrating ties. J is getting a lot of playing time in the back and is acquitting himself nicely. R and I had a nice afternoon watching college football. It has been a crazy couple of weekends in the top 25! UW will be facing yet another ranked team next Saturday. We were able to get a lot of work done around the house today and are getting ready to head back to work for another week.
